The Medical Education Reform Programme within Health Education England are pleased to inform you that a report on year two of the Extended Surgical Teams (EST) Pilot has now been published.

The initiative has been introduced through eight pilot sites across the NHS in England, and has been evaluated to enable shared learning and adoption at scale. The EST pilot is a reproduceable model which sees service improvement and added value for surgical units. The year two report focuses on how we retain valuable team members through further professional development, facilitating access to shared teaching and leading the development of multi-professional supervision.
